For the person who is obese, there are very many serious dangers to health and quality of life. The health costs of obesity in 2010 for the US is enormous and is well over 100 billion dollars per annum. What seems contradictory is the billions that are also spent on fat loss products each year. The US has been slowly gaining more weight with each passing year, or so it appears. What is also very well known are the many unhealthy foods and liquids so many people consume. There is certainly no secret that so many foods contain high sugar and fat content. Obesity often causes a wide range of health problems, and here are a couple of important ones.

One of the most severe consequences of obesity is type 2 diabetes, and more new instances appear each year. More younger people in their teen years are obese, and doctors are seeing an upward spiral with type 2 diabetes. The role of obesity in this condition is to produce increased resistance to the hormone, insulin. A person who is already considerably overweight or severely obese is at a high threat with a sugar rich diet. For years, various warnings have been made about the use of high fructose corn syrup in numerous soft drinks and other common beverages. Regular white sugar is bad enough, but high fructose corn syrup is incredibly sweet and damaging with long term ingestion.

Other serious conditions that are often seen consist of damage to certain joints in the body. Particularly susceptible joints are the knees and hips, plus the reason for that is they carry so much weight. When the joints experience so much wear and tear, they will create other severe complications such as arthritis. Patients with extreme weight problems don’t always make for the best prospects for artificial joints. However, the best outcomes occur when there is no obese state in these patients. Of course only a physician will make the final determination for those with abnormal weight problems. There are certain risks built in if surgery happens as a result of the mechanics of the general situation. The joint that was changed may begin to be mechanically unsound that is highly undesireable.

Problems are very common relating to the heart and specifically high blood pressure. It seems that pretty much every major function by the body processes is challenged. All of the fat that is found is living tissue, and for that reason it needs vital oxygen along with other nutritional needs. It all leads back to the heart obviously since that is what moves the bloodstream. The simple net effect is to create a condition of higher blood pressure. There is also a rise in the pulse rate as it works in reaction to all that need.

Obesity places your body in a risky state for a wide variety of health conditions. There are many more similarly unsafe disorders that can easily be a consequence of an overweight condition.
