Gaining weight while pregnant is normal and it is necessary.  Just how much weight you gain cannot be calculated.  The doctor says one thing, the baby says another.  The baby says, “I want a raw potato dipped in sugar.”  Normally you don’t eat like that, but the baby wants what it wants.

After you’ve given birth, you start your quest to lose your pregnancy weight.  Your first thought is probably fruits and vegetables only, wrong.  You are still eating for two, remember.  Whatever goes in to your body comes out through the breast milk so you have to eat healthy.  Here’s a couple of ways to help with the dropping those pregnancy pounds safely and quickly.

Exercise

Of course you knew that exercising would be on the list.  I’m not talking hours a day because the new baby will provide the endurance aspect of your life.  When you were pregnant, the doctor probably told you to take it easy.  Now you have to increase your activity level to drop the pregnancy weight.  Working out will also increase your energy level so that you can keep up with the new love of your life.

Choose a program that fits in to your schedule but make sure it tones your muscles and increases the heart rate.  You can do some dancing for the cardio and lift things around the house for the muscle toning.  I’m sure I don’t even need to tell you to wait a while for the stomach exercises.  The cardio activities will reduce the fat all over the body so no rush on the stomach.  Be patient with the stomach.  All of this can be accomplished while staying at home with your baby. While she’s in her play pen, do some deep-knee bends.  Get the five-pound bag of flour and raise it over your head a few times.

Yoga is great for the mind and body.  You will have better flexibility and reduce your stress.

Set Some Goals

You need to set some goals.  The long term goals will be reached by succeeding with your short term goals.  {A short-term goal would be to lose a certain amount of weight each week, lifting the bag of flour over your head five more times this week than last week, dancing through five 3-minutes songs instead of three like you did last week}.

Don’t compare yourself to the other women who lose weight at a different rate than you, stay motivated by your own short term goals.  Everybody’s body is different.  There’s no point in doing that.  You’ve just done the most difficult thing by bringing a baby into the world, everything else is down hill.  Tips for Losing Pregnancy Weight

Changing Your Eating Habits

Thankfully the cravings are over.  Now it’s time to take control of what’s right to eat for you and your baby.  You’re going to need to change the groceries you normally buy.  When you feel like a snack, head for a piece of fruit.  Eat smaller meals but more often throughout the day.  You’ll have energy for your new bundle of joy and the other things life throws at you.  Good luck and remember to first and foremost be proud of your new baby.
